Welcome to Hartford Central School's Elementary School Counseling Page!
The following is an overview of the services I can provide to you and your child. If, at any time, you have questions or concerns about your child's academic success, please feel free to contact me by phone or email.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
Throughout the year, I will be visiting each classroom in grades Kindergarten through five. Classroom lessons will be focused on feelings, friendship, problem-solving, conflict resolution, coping skills, bullying, and career exploration. Many of these concepts will reinforce our monthly character education topics. Character education topics for this year are: respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, courage, acceptance, self-discipline, honesty, fairness, and determination.
Small Group Counseling
Groups will be formed on a variety of topics throughout the school year. Typical topics for groups are: friendship skills, study skills, confidence, separation/divorce. Students often find these groups to be a meaningful experience, as they learn that they are not alone in their situation, are able to support each other, and are able to practice social skills.
Individual Counseling
I can also provide brief individual counseling. Students may ask their teacher for permission to talk with me. Parents and teachers may also make requests that I work with a student.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Trisha Shaw by phone or email, 518-632-5222 ext. 513 or tshaw@hartfordcsd.org
