Classroom Guidance Lessons
Throughout the year, I will be visiting each classroom in grades kindergarten through five. Classroom lessons will be focused on feelings, communication, careers, goals, friendship, bullying, problem solving, and conflict resolution. Many of these concepts will reinforce the monthly character education topic. Character education topics for this year are: respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, courage, acceptance, self control, honesty, fairness, and determination.
Small Group Counseling
Groups will be formed on a variety of topics throughout the school year. Typical topics for groups are: friendship skills, study skills, self esteem, and separation/divorce. Students often find these groups to be a meaningful experience, as they learn that they are not alone in their situation, are able to support each other, and are able to practice social skills.
Individual Counseling
I can also provide brief individual counseling. Students may ask their teacher for permission to talk with me. Parents and teachers may also make a request that I work with a student.
