The day kicks off with a one-mile fun run at 9 a.m., followed by the main event, the 5K, at 10 a.m. Dubbed “The toughest 5K you’ll ever love,” the course offers rolling hills and scenic views of Hartford. All proceeds support the class of 2026. After the race, participants can enjoy Board of Education President Phil Jessen’s “Almost Famous Five Alarm Chili” and celebrate with Spud Run birthday cakelets! The awards ceremony will take place around 11 a.m. The overall male and female winners of the 5K will each receive a 10-pound sack of spuds, while second and third place overall finishers will take home 5-pound sacks. Awards will also be given to the top three finishers in 10 age group divisions for both male and female runners (no duplicate awards). All pre-registered 5K participants will receive a special Spud Run t-shirt.
