Upward Bound is a college preparation program b funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The goal is to prepare and encourage students with high academic ability and potential to increase their knowledge and skills, improve study habits, and achieve self-discipline while developing the attitude and motivation necessary for success in high school and college.
Upward Bound Students Receive Help With: Academic skill development Career Awareness College Exploration College preparation, including admission and financial aid College visits/community service/cultural activities
Qualifications: Between the ages of 13 and 19 Completed 8th grade but haven’t completed 12th grade Interested in attending college after graduation Have parents/guardians who have not yet completed a 4-year degree; or reside in a household that meets income guidelines Demonstrate the willingness and ability to benefit from the UB program
Upward Bound is hosted by Castleton University and SUNY Adirondack. Below is information from both educational institutions:
