Dear Hartford Families,

On behalf of the members of the Board of Education, faculty, staff, and administration, I am extremely excited to be able to welcome our students back for the start of the 2020-2021 school year. Throughout the summer, the district has been working extremely hard to prepare for our potential reopening and we are thrilled to be able to reopen our doors tomorrow, Tuesday, September 8, for our students.

The reopening requirements will change how the school looks and the procedures that we have to follow. However, there is no substitute for in-person instruction, and we are fully prepared to reopen the building in a safe and secure environment for everyone. The new procedures will require patience as we adjust to the social distancing limitations, but I am confident in our ability to work together as a team and enhance the partnership between the school and home.

As a quick reminder, everyone who enters the building must have their temperature taken and, while the district has purchased and installed hand scanning temperature machines for all students to use when entering the building; faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to have this done prior to boarding the school bus or arriving at school.

Paper attestation forms will be sent home with students on the first day of school to be used to confirm that this process was completed. A copy of the form is posted on the district's website and can be downloaded to be used until your student receives the paper forms from school.

We are also in the final stages of integrating our guest management system to be able to send an electronic notification and attestation that can be done through email. However, due to the high demand for this service across the country, we cannot guarantee the availability for tomorrow.

As a last measure, while we finalize the electronic system and deliver the paper forms, for this week only, we will be posting a Google Survey that can be used to confirm your child's temperature. The links for both options are posted at the bottom of this notice.

I have truly appreciated everyone's support and patience throughout the entire reopening process and for your continued patience as we work through the logistical items that will develop as we reopening. A great deal of work has gone into this process and I am very proud of how we have all come together to support our students. I hope that everyone has a wonderful Labor Day and I can't wait to see our UPK through grade 8 students tomorrow, and our high school students on Wednesday.
