Valedictorian and Salutatorian Announced
The Hartford Central School District is pleased to announce Rylie Liebig as valedictorian and Alicen Barker as salutatorian for the graduating class of 2019.
Rylie Liebig was selected to participate in CASDA’s 33rd Annual Scholars’ Recognition Program where students are nominated by their schools on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and service to school and community. She held various leadership roles including volleyball captain and language club secretary her senior year, and participated in both her entire high school career. She was Key Club secretary for her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also played varsity softball all four years and was named as an Adirondack All-Star First Team her junior year. Rylie also participated in key club, FFA, math league, art club, student government, 4-H, and chorus. She is active in her community volunteering with the Salvation Army Christmas Food Handout and has volunteered with the Hartford Food Pantry and 4-H Food Booth. Rylie plans on attending SUNY Oneonta to pursue a degree in biology. She is currently on the pre-vet track and works at Glens Falls Animal Hospital. Rylie is the daughter of Meri and Michael Liebig, Jr.
Alicen Barker was consistently on the principal’s list throughout her high school career. She was active in Key Club, a member of the National Honor Society, and Language Club. In July, Alicen will travel to Peru with EF Tours in conjunction with Language Club. She recently placed first in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame’s “Horsing Around” exhibit for her original pastel artwork. She plans on attending SUNY Adirondack with an undeclared major. Alicen is the daughter of Gretchen and Lloyd Barker.
