LATEST PROGRESS REPORT ON RENOVATIONS

As we near the opening of school, many are wondering whether there will be a delay in the opening due to the renovation project. As of August 18th, it is still anticipated school will open on time for staff on September 2nd, and for students on September 3rd. There have been delays in construction and renovation due to the weather conditions this summer and unanticipated asbestos abatement.

Here is a progress report on the current conditions:

The New Bus Loop, Sidewalks, and Curbing - This work will be completed prior to school opening.

New Windows - the windows are on-site and are being installed as this article is being written.

Existing Classroom Space - Work continues on all of the existing classrooms. Many will be finished by the time school opens, others will be open for use with finish work being done on a second shift.

New Principal's Office and Main High School Entrance - This area will remain under construction at the start of school. Staff and students will enter the building through the original school entrance.

Ceilings - Ceilings in existing classrooms will be completed by the opening of school. Some areas of the hallways must remain open for access for mechanical work.

Interior Finishes - This work will progress nights and weekends throughout the fall. School will open with many classrooms fully complete. The areas not completed will progress on second shift after the start of school.

Lockers - Lockers are back ordered. It is anticipated delivery of the lockers will be in mid September. The juniors and seniors will utilize their gym lockers for books and belongs at the start of school. Lockers in the music hallway and the tech. building will be utilized by grades 7-10.

New Classroom Additions - This area will remain under construction. It is anticipated the classrooms will be available for occupancy at Christmas Break.
